Flagpole Rope Cut? Flag Stolen?
If you are worried about your flagpole halyard getting cut while you are away from home or your business, wire core rope may be the option that your looking for. There are a number of security measures that you can take to avoid getting the rope cut on an external flagpole. Our recommendation at the San Diego Flagpole Company would be to purchase a cleat cover box, halyard cover, and wire core rope to maximize the security of your flagpole.
We have come across where people have installed 1/4" cable on their flagpole. We DO NOT recommend this application. From our experience the cable has either left black markings on the aluminum from the plastic sheath or damaged the flagpole in other ways when the plastic sheathing dried up and cracked and fell off.
This method will also damage the truck at the top of the flagpoles.
